ACV is a Public Interest Civil Society Organization (locally Oscip) the objective of which, either individually or in partnership with other organizations, is to develop educational and cultural projects, aimed at fostering and promoting activities that contribute to the development and growth of the human intellectual capacity, in both the individual and social spheres. ACV works towards the dissemination of audiovisual productions, including the development of:

(a) Cultural, educational, and culture formation activities;

(b) Research, studies, lectures, courses, consulting, workshops, debates, and other such events;

(c) Promoting, supporting, and developing projects in partnership with scientific, artistic, teaching, and cultural development institutions, be they national or foreign, public or private;

(d) Organizing and/or promoting the production, editing, and publishing of books, journals, CDs, CD-Rom's, DVDs, Websites, and such, including a news bulletin on the Association's work, using third-party production facilities;

(e) Conceiving and producing audio-visual work, such as the Videobrasil Authors Collection (“Videobrasil Coleção de Autores”) documentary film series;

(f) Generating and fostering activities that further the research, exhibition, reflection, and documenting of artistic projects;

(g) Creating a hub of information, research, and reflection for the development of Media Art;

(h) Promoting an art festival entitled Videobrasil International Electronic Art Festival (“Festival Internacional de Arte Eletrônica Videobrasil”);

(i) Investigating and propagating contemporary artistic output from “southern scene” countries, as well as promoting interchange between theoreticians, artists, and artwork;

(j) Maintaining a collection of national and international audio-visual work produced through different supports and organized in videotheque, CD collection, library, and a reading room for public consultation;

(k) Maintaining an image bank and a database of Brazilian and foreign electronic art output;

(l) Exhibiting national and international audio-visual work, created through different supports, at public screening sessions;

(m) Doing work that relates to its objective; and

(n) Gathering and collecting funds, material contributions, and incentives of any kind to apply on the fulfillment of the Association's objectives.
