Encontro SESC_Videobrasil Joseph Beuys and the International Free University With an oeuvre marked by political proposals, German artist Joseph Beuys (1921–1986) was one of the founders of the Free International University (FIU), a space for research, work, and communication aiming to reflect on the future of society. In this Meeting, Antonio d’Avossa, curator of the exhibition Joseph Beuys: We Are the Revolution, which Videobrasil and SESC São Paulo will promote in September at SESC Pompeia, discusses the FIU and philosophical aspects of Beuys’ output. D’Avossa is a contemporary art history professor at the Academia di Brera and was a close collaborator with Joseph Beuys during the artist’s Italian phase. Open to all, the Meeting will accept enrolment by forty university arts and human sciences students interested in becoming part of the Educational Curatorial Programme for the Joseph Beuys: We Are the Revolution exhibition. The Curatorial Programme will be based on themes pertaining to the FIU. Candidates should submit a résumé and a letter of interest to educativo@videobrasil.org.br by July 19, 2010. Educators will be selected in August. For the public, tickets will be on sale at all box offices of the SESC Network in July. The costs are sixteen Brazilian reais (US$9 – full ticket), eight reais (US$4.4 – students, SESC users, elderly), and four reais (US$2.2 – trade workers).
