A REVISTA [THE MAGAZINE]- 2011
A Revista takes its name from a renowned literary publication issued in 1925 by the modernist artist group based in Belo Horizonte. Edited by curator Rodrigo Moura and designed by artist Marilá Dardot, the magazine is comprised of pages culled from art, culture and literature magazines which were published in Brazil from the 1920s to the 1990s and are now out of circulation. A Revista evokes the creative use of magazines and their pages as a space for art, both in projects originally devised for Brazilian art magazines, and interventions created for or given to A Revista by nine collaborators: Ana Martins Marques, Arnaldo Antunes, Cildo Meireles, Claudia Andujar, Eduardo Costa, Erika Verzutti, Fabio Morais, Jorge Macchi, and Rivane Neuenschwander. These artists and writers were invited with the purpose of establishing relationships between their works and the magazine medium, so as to compose an exhibition-of-sorts throughout the pages of the publication.
