REFLEXION ZONE
The activities of the Reflection Zone are designed to bring greater density to the discussions on contemporary art generated by the 15th Videobrasil Festival, engaging the community assembled at the event in actions that produce concrete results. Artists, curators, researchers, and critics discuss issues related to this edition of the Festival and particularly to its curatorial theme, performance, during a circuit of debates. The Zone also includes practical activities and creative processes, such as the performance workshop for students; laboratories to introduce videomakers to the content-editing processes of the recently launched Videobrasil On-line database of electronic art from the southern circuit; the VJ Nights, live-image sessions by artists from different nationalities, cultures, and aesthetic backgrounds; and the launch of “Caderno Videobrasil,” a publication devoted to reflection on contemporary art. Workshops, laboratories, debates, and other activities span the three weeks of the Festival, interweaving, punctuating, and commenting upon screenings and performances and reverberating through large screens displaying the opinions of artists, guests, debaters, the general public, and the production team on the themes treated by the 15th Videobrasil Festival.
