Chelpa Ferro
“Chelpa Ferro”
September 20
TUESDAY
9 P.M.
Theatre
After an important appearance at the Venice Biennale (2005), visual artists Barrão and Luiz Zerbini and film editor Sergio Mekler are back in Videobrasil, the festival in which Chelpa Ferro made its debut in 1998. In this new performance, they make music using both conventional and invented musical instruments, such as a sewing machine and an ashtray, in a stage installation of sorts. A drum kit built with incense sticks interrupts the sounds in a “silent solo.”

Marco Paulo Rolla
“Urgência Social”
September 22
THURSDAY
9 P.M.
Play Gallery 2
In Marco Paulo Rolla’s performances, programmed chance emerges clashing against a day-to-day of luxury and comfort–and often transfigures the cleanliness of the white cube. “Urgência Social” awaits its visitors with the possibility of bringing the unexpected into the routine. During the Festival, the artist will also launch his book “M.I.P. - Manifestação Internacional de Performance,” written in partnership with Professor Marcos Hill, with whom he shares the coordination of the Center for Art Experimentation and Information (Centro de Experimentação e Informação de Arte – CEIA), in Belo Horizonte. |

Eder Santos, Paulo Santos, Stephen Vitiello, and Ana Gastelois
“Engrenagem”
September 24
SATURDAY
9:30 P.M.
Auditorium
This concert-performance is a re-reading of Eder Santos’ most important pieces over the past twenty years, featuring live appearances by guest musicians Paulo Santos and Stephen Vitiello and by performer Ana Gastelois. Between the scenes, fragments of recent work by Eder emerge, such as a performance in which actors Monica Ribeiro and Rodolfo Vaz bark at the camera. “Engrenagem” ends up with the presentation of Ana Gastelois’ piece of the same name, which creates a live fusion of drawing, graphism, gesture, and dance.
