Awards

Each of the three divisions of the Southern Panoramas exhibition carries two prizes, a cash prize and a residency prize. The cash prizes are awarded by the official jury, while the residencies, which are conferred at the discretion of the Festival, presuppose the production of a work of audiovisual art that will bear the official stamp of the prize and be exhibited for the first time at the next edition of the Festival.

The FAAP Digital Arts Prize offers a young videomaker, a participant from the New Vectors division of the exhibition, a four- to six-month course at the Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado (FAAP) College of Fine Arts and the opportunity to produce a work of audiovisual art at the university’s laboratories under the orientation of a member of its teaching staff.

Le Fresnoy Audiovisual Creation Award – France has been conferred upon a participant in the Contemporary Investigations division of the exhibition since 2003 by the French General Consulate in São Paulo, Aliança Francesa de São Paulo, and Le Fresnoy – Studio National Des Arts Contemporains. The award grants one young artist access to the centre’s activities for a period of three months, as well as the logistical support and technical means for the production of a work of audiovisual art.

Videobrasil Residency Award Hosted by Gasworks is offered by the Festival in conjunction with Gasworks, a studio and gallery complex in London that runs a renowned International Residency Programme. The prize is awarded to the author of a work from the State of the Art division of the exhibition and involves a three-month residency at the institution’s studios, with access to equipment, funding for the production of a project, and the use of postproduction facilities.

The 15th Videobrasil trophy is a sculpture made of acrylic and light by artist Luiz Zerbini.
