CONTEMPORARY INVESTIGATIONS
AWARDS TWO PRODUCERS

With “Roger”, a short love story that combines elements of advertising and comic books, young producer Federico Lamas from Argentina has garnered the Contemporary Investigations Award of the 15th Videobrasil International Electronic Art Festival. Luiz Duva, author of the installation “Tríptico: Estudo para Auto-Retrato 1”, has received the Le Fresnoy - France Audiovisual Creation Award, consisting of a residency in the French media center. The Contemporary Investigations Award was granted by the 15th Videobrasil jury, comprised of Marcos Moraes, coordinator of the Plastic Arts Course at FAAP (Fundação Armando Alvares Penteado), Mexican artist Ximena Cuevas, and Argentine-Israeli curator Sergio Edelsztein. The Le Fresnoy - France Audiovisual Creation Award was granted by the Festival and is jointly offered, since 2003, by the Consulate General of France in São Paulo, by Aliança Francesa of São Paulo, and by the Le Fresnoy - Studio National Des Arts Contemporains. The winner gains three-month access to the French media center activities, as well as logistical and technical support for producing an audiovisual work.

The Contemporary Investigations section of Southern Panoramas, the 15th Videobrasil competitive exhibition, features work that poses new questions regarding audiovisual production processes, researches concepts and languages, and points to new trends in electronic art.
